Due to Covid-19, our fun filled events were cancelled for 2020/2021 and this will be the case for 2021 as well. Traditionally each month featured a different event planned by our awesome bunch of seasonals. We begin with fireworks for Canada Day set off on our beach. Many seasonal campers decorate their trailers to celebrate this special day.  We also have a fishing derby co planned by a number of seasonals.

At the end of July, the park is transformed into a winter wonderland. Christmas in July  consists of a silent auction, potluck and a visit from Santa. All funds raised are donated to a charity in need. In the past, we have donated to the local hospitals, the Cancer Center in memory of seasonals who lost their battle against the terrible disease. One year, a couple who lost their home to fire was the lucky recipient. Another year, we donated to the Elliot Lake relief fund. The Manitoulin Special Olympics was the last recipient we had before Covid hit.

In August, a group of seasonals plan a spooktacular event known as Halloween in the Park. Again the park is decorated in preparation for the event. The kids, dressed in their costumes, go trick or treating around the park. There is also a potluck. In past years, a group of seasonals decorated an area to create a haunted house. The kids love it!

In a normal year, we would also participate in the various parades around the island. Again, a group of seasonals decorate a float, the kids pile on and head into town to represent Uncle Steve’s. We have even won a prize a time or 2.

Unfortunately covid has prevented us from celebrating as we traditionally do, but we continued to keep up our community spirit by decorating as we would any other year. We look forward to the day we can host as we normally would.
